A bit of history

Quite a bit has happened in our families lives since we got back from our full time RV adventure! We decided to head to Penticton rather than back to the north Okanagan once we were back in Canada and Rob found this Amazing old farm for rent in Naramata. 3 acres with a view to die for, a really old A frame home and just an amazing lifestyle.

We fell in love. The work was endless since everything was old and mostly in disrepair, but we just excelled at fixing things and really truly made it our home. Right from the start we wanted to buy it and kept a secret hope that it would work out, but alas, it was not to be. Our landlord did sell, but at 1.13mil it was out of our league. Leaving that place was sooo hard.

The next challenge was to find another place to live. Because of bank red tape we weren’t able to buy yet, but there was nothing to rent! Rob had been working on his next ferry build for several months by then so we decided to move to Nelson for the remainder of his job. This would allow us to stay together as a family and get the chance to explore the Kootenays. We lucked out in the rental department again and landed a house with beachfront access and a dock… which meant we could moor the boat we had bought when we lost the Naramata farm.

We have done really well enjoying all the Kootenays has to offer since living here: we’re Ainsworth hot springs regulars, the kids and I learned to snowboard at Whitewater this winter, Rob has been fishing the west arm of Kootenay lake as much as possible after work and on days off, we have Ziplined a bunch since Katie works there this year, we walk Baker St now and then, and are learning to relax and live somewhat on Kootenay time. I am very glad we made the move. Josh asked to homeschool which has been a great fit and is taking guitar lessons. Katie has been back at home for 2022, she has been deferred on her RCMP application for 2 years and is currently planning to go to Australia this fall.

But… we have had the itch to own again, to get a place of our own to work on again. We have been watching the market skyrocket and getting a bit concerned so we set our price limit and started looking for an acreage with a view (Naramata wrecked us!) We saw an MLS listing for this little place up the Anarchist Mountain one time on our way home from Penticton so did a drive by and were pleasantly surprised with the great neighborhood. Rob went to view it and we put in a back up offer the next day. Luckily for us it all fell into place and we closed on our new home a month ago.
